SPR# ASAR6ALTKV - Directories and/or files not owned,readable,searchable by the Domino server would break directory scanning done as part of disk statistics gathering. On V6.52 and earlier, no disk stats would be found in the servers stats database; on V6.53 and later, the stats would exist, but would not update. This fix allows the directory scanner to deal with ERR_PROTECTED, ERR_ACCESS and other error conditions that it formerly failed to recognize.
A workaround would be to be sure that .dir links either point to existing files/dirs that the userid of the server can read and search, or that they are renamed to .dir.bad (or otherwise hidden/removed from the server's view). All files and directories in the data area reachable via recursive descent in the directory (and by following .dir links (and symbolic links on UNIX)) must be readable/searchable by the server process. Change ownership and/or permission's as needed. Server restart will not be necessary, but will be a 'good idea'.
